EMDR or Brainspotting INTENSIVES

One of the most effective ways to overcome emotional struggles and reduce or eliminate symptoms is through trauma-focused therapy intensives using EMDR or Brainspotting. These approaches allow individuals to work through difficult experiences at the level where trauma is stored in the brain and body.


EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR helps individuals process distressing experiences, reduce emotional activation, and shift negative beliefs about themselves and their past.


Brainspotting is another powerful brain-body therapy that helps access and process trauma and emotional pain stored deep within the brain and nervous system. By identifying specific eye positions related to unresolved experiences, Brainspotting allows the brain and body to release stored stress and facilitate healing in a focused and supportive way.


Because of the powerful healing effects of both EMDR and Brainspotting, therapy intensives can often produce faster results than traditional weekly talk therapy sessions. Intensives allow clients to remain engaged in the therapeutic process for a longer period of time, helping the brain process more material and allowing deeper healing to occur.


Based on a growing demand for a condensed and focused time of counseling, the intensive therapy model was developed from the idea that concentrated periods of well-paced, attuned, and skillful psychotherapeutic work can provide efficient and meaningful relief for individuals who are emotionally suffering and ready to engage in the healing process.


An intensive is a dedicated period of time, anywhere from three hours to a full day, or even multiple days in a row, where goals are predetermined during the initial consultation. The therapeutic work is highly focused on addressing the presenting concerns and working toward meaningful resolution.


Through this focused approach, intensive therapy can help individuals:


  • Feel less emotional distress around traumatic or adverse experiences 
  • Shift long-held beliefs that are no longer true or helpful 
  • Process unresolved memories 
  • Move forward in life and relationships in ways that feel more aligned with their values and goals
     

Intensives are not the right approach for everyone. Sometimes slower and more gradual therapy is the best path. Healing requires respect for the entire system—mind, body, and nervous system, and the goal is always to follow your natural healing process.

  • Live a busy lifestyle and have limited time for weekly therapy sessions 
  • Believe therapy would be beneficial but prefer not to attend sessions week after week for extended periods 
  • Have tried traditional talk therapy and did not experience the progress you hoped for 
  • Feel stable in many areas of life but have a specific issue or experience where you feel stuck 
  • Live in an area where trauma-informed therapists are limited 
  • Prefer a focused and intentional approach to processing difficult experiences
