What is Clinical Hypnosis?
What is hypnotherapy used for?
In the mental health it’s uses include:
Who can provide hypnotherapy?
Any health care provider who is properly trained within their field, is licensed and credentialed within a healthcare field, and has been trained in clinical hypnosis.
What does a hypnosis session look like?
After meeting with your therapist and discussing your goals, a typical hypnosis session includes:
Will you make me quack like a duck?
No! Due to media and the entertainment industry, many believe that hypnotists have the power to make the recipient do things they don’t want to do. This is perhaps the biggest myth hypnotherapists encounter. While in trance, you are in a state of heightened awareness, you are aware of everything that’s happening around you. The hypnotherapist does not take control, we simply make suggestions. These suggestions are therapeutic in nature and are discussed prior to the hypnotherapy session between the client and the therapist. Asking participants to quack like a duck or cluck like a chicken has no therapeutic value and is only used in stage hypnosis.
